The Tenerife Island Council organized a collective exhibition of ‘Merkarte’ at the Goma of Modern Art Gallery. The exhibition will be open to the public until June 13th.
The Youth Councillor, Serafín Mesa, highlighted the commitment of the Tenerife Island Council to support young artists in their professional development. “Through Merkarte, we are providing young people with the tools and support they need to pursue their passion and find their way in the art world because we want the youth of Tenerife to have the opportunity to pursue what they are passionate about and what makes them happy and be able to dedicate themselves to it here, in our land.”
The selection of participants was made among young artists who were part of the Merkarte Christmas art market. The gallery curators extended invitations to prominent artists to present their work.
The artists participating in the collective exhibition are: Rima Ciplyte; Clara Pérez; Borja Pineda; Elvira Piedra; Alvaro Hogdson Adrián Smokaz; Marie De La Rue; Freya Díaz Jaén; Grete Mus; Azahara Capella; Ana Amaia; Elia Estevez; Romen Acosta and Gara Acosta.
Merkarte is an educational, artistic and social program organized by the Employment, Education and Youth area of the Tenerife Island Council that aims to make visible, promote and empower young creatives from Tenerife, under 35 years old, favoring their professionalization and their incorporation into the labor market.
Thus, it offers a program of training, exhibition and socio-labor support activities, in its commitment to youth and local talent in collaboration with the tourism industry and other private actors.
