Alejandro Tosco, prominent Spanish artist

From an early age, Alejandro Tosco decided to dedicate his life to plastic creation, motivated by artistic concerns, but influenced by his family, among whom were painters of recognized international fame. Alejandro Tosco, a restless researcher of the breadth of his aesthetic concerns, has led him to investigate various expressive avenues, achieving important achievements in his career.

To begin his professional career as a self-taught plastic artist, he became known in 1994 with his first group exhibition. Having painting, sculpture, ceramics and design as disciplines, his work has been seen in various spaces on the Islands, but also in Tokyo, New York, Paris, London, Berlin, Mexico City, Miami or Quito, among others.

He has actively collaborated in conferences, courses, gatherings and cultural programs in the Canary Islands. He has been director, coordinator, collaborator, curator and jury member in various exhibitions and fairs at the regional and national level. Former director of the art room of the Real Casino de Tenerife (2014 – 2018).

Currently he is president of the Círculo de las Bellas Artes de S/C de Tenerife, vice president of the AICAV (Canary Islands Association of Visual Artists), Member of the ACH (Alejandro de Humboldt Cultural Association).

He collaborates with UNICEF, Loro Parque Fundación, Adepac and some other NGOs due to his social conscience, related to the conservation and protection of nature. Awarded the highest distinction of the Rotary Club of Santa Cruz de Tenerife with the Paul Harris for his collaboration and support of those most in need in 2012. Honorary member of the French alliance.

“Alejandro Tosco’s work is above all that of a committed painter and for that reason, it is also that of an ideologue who expresses his convictions through visual texts. His task is to be a creator of forms that mobilize intentions and create states of consciousness, Alexander’s painting with a universal vocation, summons the world from the periphery, but, first of all, it summons humans, encouraging them to become aware of their heritage and making it visible; to preserve for humanity the legacy they have received from nature, inviting them to know it, to enjoy it and to preserve it from irreversible damage” as the Professor of Drawing at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the ULL Pilar Blanco would say.
