Ariam Lázaro Pérez Barrios, a Cuban artist in the Canary Islands

This young artist was born in Havana Cuba. Since 2002 he has resided in the municipality of Arona. He trained as a painter at the San Alejandro Fine Arts Academy, Cuba, and later graduated from the Fernando Estévez Art School, Santa Cruz Tenerife, specializing in illustration.

He has worked in various fields of art, such as thematic art, comic artist, illustrator, sculptor and muralist, and has obtained various awards for his plastic work in various competitions, regularly participating in group and personal exhibitions.

His work always seeks strength and contrast, exploring various techniques and formats. The figure and the portrait are obsessions in the artist’s work, but he also ventures into themes such as still life and even landscape. He is an artist with a marked figurative tendency but who seeks his own language.

Ariam Lázaro Pérez Barrios’ artistic style is characterized by a unique fusion of surreal and abstract elements, creating works that challenge perception and explore the complexities of the human mind. Through his masterful use of color, shape and texture, he manages to convey deep emotions and provoke reflections in the viewer.

He began his career as a mural painter in Tenerife, creating murals and set designs for different town councils and private clients. He has participated in numerous exhibitions and artistic events, developing his personal work throughout these years for which he has received various awards and recognitions.

As an illustrator he has made two comics for the Adeje City Council, about the history of the municipality, the first “Adeje Guanche” and the second “La Conquista”.

He has made illustrations for various publications and institutional organizations and has also taught two comic and illustration training workshops at the Arona City Council. He is currently teaching the third workshop at said city hall. He is a multifaceted artist who has also worked on sculpture and theming. He currently works as a mural artist for the Adeje city council, a job with which he combines his plastic career and illustration.
